frugal finds

In case anyone didn’t know, all baking products are currently 3-for-2 at Tesco, so it’s a good time to stock up on flour and other bits.

We did quite well on the grocery list I posted a few days ago.  Only spent £49 (mostly because I didn’t get any cheese because they were out).  I think I also forgot kidney beans but we have a tin or 2 in the cupboard already, so I can get more during the month if I need to.

I also picked up some red onions, which I never buy these days, because they were on special and make a brilliantly-colored chutney that’s perfect for gifts.  I usually just make normal brown onion chutney, but I figured this does look slightly more posh.

It really was a bargainous weekend all-around, as my husband G also went to go pick up Finn’s birthday present, which I found using our local for sale/swap group on Facebook.  The best thing was the woman had emailed me the day before to say she had examined the thing again and found a couple light cracks, so she halved the price!  It’s in fabulous condition, you can’t even see the cracks, so I would’ve been happy with only a pound or two off the price…I’m not going to complain about 50%!!  So all in all, a great play kitchen for him, with lots of its original dishes for £7.50.  It’s definitely worth going onto your local group to find some bargains.

I think I received a frugal warning from above this afternoon, as I attempted to waste money on the snack machine at work…my 10p pieces kept falling through, so clearly someone was trying to save my wallet and waistline from chocolate!

apologies, I actually wrote this post about 3 days ago and have been too busy to post it!
