I probably shouldn’t be blogging for the sake of blogging, but I want to apologise for the lack of posts last week.  I just haven’t hit upon any sudden inspirations of life-changing thrifty tips.  But I suppose I should quickly learn that it’s not usually about that – most thrifty-living is about boring little mundanities.  It’s not glamorous or exciting, but about little adjustments we make to save money.

For instance, even just how we choose to spend our time can help our quest for thriftiness.  I had a day off work yesterday, and while I did use a little of the time to relax, I spent most of the day cooking/baking and cleaning up afterwards.  Some stuff needed to be done (and had been intentionally delayed from the weekend because I knew I had the day off), but a few things I just did as ‘extras’ (like bake a batch of bread rolls for the freezer.  They’re always something I wish I had around but never have time to make).

By the way, if anyone has a frugal mould-killing/preventative treatment they could share, that would be fabulous.  We have terrible mould growing around our bedroom window due to the really high condensation levels and not being able to open the windows to let the moisture evaporate.  I’ve tried a tea tree spray, but that didn’t help one bit.  Someone tells me lavender is better than tea tree so I may do that, but I’m a bit loathe to buy a chemical mould spray if I can avoid it (though at the end of the day, I may need to).  It’s on the wallpaper so anything bleach-like is out.  We’re really hope the landlord will provide a dehumidifier before it gets much worse! (though of course those cost money to run…but to be honest, I’m willing to spend a little money when it comes to something like disgusting mould.)
